The remarkable Denise Brooks-Williams will be in the studio. Denise is Senior Vice President/CEO of Henry Ford Health System’s North Market, which includes hospitals and all ambulatory and other operations within southeastern Michigan’s northern counties. In 2013, she joined Henry Ford Health System as president/CEO of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. A native of Michigan, Ms. Brooks-Williams received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health services administration from the University of Michigan. She started her career in healthcare leadership as a management fellow at Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She has been active in numerous professional groups, including serving as president of the National Association of Health Services Executives. She is also past president of the Midwest Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Most recently, she formerly served on the State of Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities. In this 8th episode, we have the privilege to speak with Van Nguyen, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Schoolcraft.

 

Van is charged with developing marketing and communications strategies that promote the college’s mission and increase community awareness. Additionally, she chairs the college’s inaugural Diversity, Equity & Inclusion task force, formed in 2020. Before joining Schoolcraft College, Van was the Director of Trustee Development oversees 132 Beaumont Health Trustees in Southeast Michigan. She was executive director of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (APACC) in Livonia, Michigan where she launched economic advancement programs in the minority business community. Van has more than 15 years of experience in the digital marketing industry; spearheading General Motor’s first “social command center” and also worked as an account director at Ogilvy & Mather where she managed a social marketing campaign for Ford Motor Company. She has been awarded the Career Mastered Women's History Leadership in Action Award, Corp! Magazine Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award, Crain's 40 Under 40 Class of 2015, Women's Leadership in Action Award, and featured in the 6th Edition of DRIVEN Magazine for Diversity and Inclusion in the automotive industry for her efforts at APACC.
